Really, hunny I’m just going to the grocery store to buy more milk.
(Superwash merino sock yarn from Autumn House Farm purchased from Ewe-nique sheep. I saw this in my sister’s Rhinebeck haul and wish I had gotten some too!)
and maybe some more yarn! About a month ago my friend Amanda Jayne told me there was a new yarn shop opening in Fezell’s Shop and Save in Dubois, Pennsylvania. Honestly, I tried not to get my hopes up. Really, a yarn shop in a grocery store? Could they really have nice yarn that would make a yarn snob happy? When Amanda Jayne and I walked up to Ewe-nique, (ok we giggled first. Ewe-nique hehee! Love that name.)
We where greeted and encouraged to come in an have a cookie. (yay cookies!) After taking a step into the stop my biased expectations melted away.
Counter when you first walk in
from the left of the door, Berroco yarns, Ironstone and some Autumn House farms.
from the right of the door. More Berroco, Autumn house, baby weight yarns, and some eyelash yarns.
view from the door. Sock yarn, Autumn House yarns on the self.
The nice big table! Behind the table on the self there are some more Ironstone yarns,
The back wall has lots of brown sheep, more Ironstone yarn, and some fiesta yarns.
Overall this is a nice shop, with room to grow.ย The owner said she is taking suggestions for yarn lines. When she asked us what yarns we would like to see, Amanda Jayne and I couldn’t think of anything! I have a nice list now. ๐
Almost forgot the shops hours~
Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Open Wednesday 11-5, Thursday 11-6, Friday 11-5 and Saturday 10-4.
oh, and Mike. We’re almost out of milk again… I have to go to the store.
Why didn’t anybody open a yarn store in Shop n Save when we lived in Punxsutawney? Huh? Not fair, but how awesome is that for you!
Oh man! That looks awesome! I sooooo need a store like that here!
OMG–in Dubois??? I am so excited and have to check that place out, thanks for the hot tip!
I think I might make them drink lots of milk so I could go to the (yarn) store more often!!
A yarn shop in the grocery store? Oh my, that would cause serious problems. I don’t think I’d make it back with the milk – just the yarn!
I have to figure out when I can take time off to come down and see (the shop) you guys!
Love ya,
Mom
What a Ewe-nique idea. It looks like a great shop! I bet it ends up a huge success! I can’t imagine how non kniters will be able to resist the lure of free cookies and pretty colored yarn in a cute shop they see week after week in the store. She’ll have to run a steady stream of beginning knitting classes!
What a sweet little store! They seem to have a great selection. And cookies! How can you resist? ๐
I’d be in big trouble if there were a yarn shop in my grocery store. I can see it now, my refrigerator and cabinets would be full of yarn and my grocery money would be gone ๐
We need a store like that in my neighbourhood. That would take shopping to a higher level. Enjoy it ๐
As much as I’m at that grocery store, having a yarn shop there would be my downfall!
That would be so dangerous. Especially if they gave me GETgo points on my Giant Eagle card with that, I would have a free tank of gas all the time!
That’s really funny going out for “milk”. I would love to use that excuse, but I have this little sneaky gleam in my eye when I leave the house and sadly I don’t have the “poker” gleam. Hub just shakes his head. The shop looks well organized. It’s great they are asking you about what you would like to see. You’ll have to keep us posted about how the shop is doing.
Seriously!? A yarn shop in a grocery store?! What an awesome idea!
I’m so JEALOUS!! That is the coolest idea ever! lucky
You are one lucky duck – one stop shopping at its finest!
